Flower Power : a series of groovy collages | Liv Clarke

It was a typical rainy day in Manchester; we were sat eating our lunch in Slice, a little Italian café that felt as though it was in the heart of Naples and not the Northern Quarter. I’d just bought a book entitled Exotic Plants of the World and as we ate we flicked through page after page of tropical flowers with greasy fingers, feeling the creative potential of each image. We ooh-ed and aah-ed at the detailed photos, the alien forms of the plants and the psychedelic colour combinations. Kizzy had found it hidden amongst a dusty collection of second hand books at a market, the technicolour cacti standing out from the more mundane publications. She (kindly) let me buy it so in return I let her tear out some pages that she liked and to this day I’ve left the rest intact. But a camera, a few sheets of coloured plastic and some selective cropping have let me make these flowers even groovier. Enjoy.
